Hi,

I'm looking for an MP3 player WITHOUT internal memory, I want it to
play from an SD card (eastly interchangable)

I also want to power it from an external powersupply (instead of
running it from it's batteries)

Also I want it to start playing IN RANDOM and REPEAT FOREVER mode when
power comes up

This way I would have a simple to use, endless music player for
playing muzak in a store outlet

I'm prepared to do some modifications on the device if needed ...

anyone know what I'm looking for ?
som kind of cheap Chinese stuff capable of doing this ?

Please let me know

Thanks

Johan

Did you ever get an answer to this question? I'm looking for a
similar item for my home. Just a basic mp3 player that operates off AC
power instead of battery. Why hasn't some audio component
manufacturer come up with an mp3 player that fits into a home theater
rack yet? Or HAVE they?

Sony Giga Juke, NAC-HD1E for instance. Google knows more.

I own this one:
http://www.amazon.com/RCA-RT2760-Home-Theater-System/dp/B000FCNA3W and it
works great but it isn't available any more.

This unit is only $99 and it does more than you ask but it will let you
attach a thumb drive at the front as well as playing MP3 CDs (five of them,
in fact.).

http://www.amazon.com/RCA-RTD207-Home-Theater-System/dp/B000FCP1TS

Sounds like it would do what you want.

Good luck.

I actually meant something like Ipod and other small portable MP3 SD
players

I saw some for around $15 - $20

this I could build into a box, connect external power supply and
connect audio output to RCA connectors, and put it in the place of the
current CD player in the store ...

but I need it to autoasart on power-up and automatically go into
"shuffle" and "repeat forever" mode

Thanks

Yes, I understand what you are looking for but it doesn't exist at the
current time as far as I can tell.

First of all, I've not seen an MP3 player in the price range you mention.
There may be some, but I haven't seen them.

Secondly, *if* the player you described existed, the power supply would
likely cost you in the $15 to $20 range or higher, at least that is the
current price range for external power supplies, which are rarely included
with the players. Often the players are charged via the USB cable that also
loads the music on board.

Thirdly, as the price goes down, so do the features, so who knows whether or
not you would have playback options such as "repeat" or "shuffle".

Does your store have a computer (PC or Mac)? If so, your best bet is to
obtain MP3 player software, such as Winamp, MusicMatch Jukebox, or Windows
Media Player, all of which have free versions and are capable of performing
as you indicated. You can feed the line-out or speaker output from your
sound card to your store amplifier and, voila! you're making music!

Don't you sometimes wish manufacturers would have suggestion pages on their
Web sites? Then we could ask for the gizmos we want... not that they would
ever make them. I'm still looking for a machine that looks like a boombox
but has a huge, say 500GB, hard drive inside with wi-fi connection to the
Internet so I could rip CDs, store them as MP3's and have my whole music
collection in one box. Guess I'm the only person in the world who wants this
so it isn't likely to ever be made.

Again, good luck finding what you want.
