First off,I'm severely tech-challenged. Now that you know that...
What is the cheapest device I can get to listen my iPod nano in my car? |

I use an FM transmitter that works great.

And Wal-Mart sells a Belkin transmitter (battery only) for $20 or a 12 volt
with plug for about $30, I think. I use the battery unit and the 2 triple
A's last quite a while.
They sound great, work every where, not just in your car, and, contrary to
what the National Association of Broadcasters would have you believe, they
bother no one. You pick a frequency that is unused in your area, so there is
no chance of you smothering someone else's favorite station.

That last sentence is the problem. The one I have has 4 frequency |
selections but I have trouble matching to an unused radio station. Can
do it for a given location but conditions change as I drive. My unit may
not be the best.
I believe later auto radios have a front mounted input socket. This
would be a much better solution.

I agree 100% that it would be much better to use a patch cord from the
player to the radio. My wife's car has such a jack, but my Buick doesn't.
Best of all though, would be an MP3 player/ hands-free mobile phone/ AM/FM
combo unit that would actually "dock" in the dash and run off the car
battery. It could automatically mute the audio system when a call was made
or received. Just like the removable face plate of today's CD players, it
could be slipped into a pocket or purse on leaving the vehicle, thus
providing you with continuing use when you are out of your car.
This is a no-brainer... we just need a manufacturer who wants to make
millions of dollars off of it. Unfortunately, they all seem to be opposed to
making money, 'cause I haven't seen it yet. ;-)
