|
|
I just got my first mp3 player so I'm only just starting to get a clue. One
thing I'm noticing is although the music I've copied to the player is stored
in a number of folders the player lists all the songs as if they are in one
folder. I would like to be able to select specific folders for playback (so
I can play specific albums), but don't seem to be able to. Is that typical
for mp3 players or is it just a limitation of my model? I have an iVO M400.
Also, I've been using Windows Media Player for "syncing" files to the
player. It seems to work fine, but I wonder if there are other programs
that you would recommend? Fortunately, my player has no DRM restrictions so
I can pretty much use any software to copy files. |

I don't know anything about your player (or much of anything else)
but GNU/Linux GTKpod is what I use on my 30G iPod. No need to keep
a copy on your 'puter, I delete the ripped mp3's as soon as I get
out of GTKpod. I folder system sofware was already on the iPod.
Grip works quick and easy for ripping etc and is configurable.
Got mine set at 320(kbs?). :)
My son installed Linux on his 30G iPod and uses it like a PDA(?)...
yes he knows a PDA is better etc but what's the fun in that? ;)
(dangged geeks huh?;)
You are "just getting a clue" but it sounds to me like you'll be
answering questions here pretty quick. :)

Most players organize mp3 files by their id3 tags (album, genre,
artist). There are plenty of free tag editors out there. jTagger is
Java-based and will work on any platform:
